Researchers from disparate fields join to chart a new path for formulating policies in response to future pandemics.
On Nov. 15, 2021, the National Bureau of Economic Research published an article by Lauren Gardner, director of the Center for Systems Science and Engineering, and multiple Johns Hopkins colleagues titled “Modeling to Inform Economy-Wide Pandemic Policy: Bringing Epidemiologists and Economists Together.” The article explained the different approaches the two disciplines took on recommending policies for pandemic response and explored ways to “chart a path forward for more effective synergy between disciplines” to prepare for future pandemics.
