Experts Call for Open Public Health Data

Johns Hopkins team highlighted the urgent need for better COVID data collection.

In a correspondence published by The Lancet Infectious Diseases on Aug. 10, 2020, several Johns Hopkins University experts who built and supported the COVID-19 global dashboard called for better government systems for real time reporting on public health data during a crisis such as the pandemic. The authors were Lauren Gardner, director of the Center for Systems Science and Engineering; Ensheng Dong, an engineering doctoral student; and Jeremy Ratcliff and Aaron Katz, both with the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory.
